Prosthodontists are qualified Dentists who have then undergone a minimum of a further three years of full time training and practise in all areas of dentistry. This additional in-depth training means they have a wide and detailed knowledge of a range of dental techniques and a comprehensive view of the teeth as a part of the human body.
By undertaking the additional training, Prosthodontists are trained to diagnose and treat underlying problems as part of an overall treatment program. Prosthodontists are trained to enhance the esthetic and comfort of dental restorations, while using the latest materials and techniques. For example, when considering an esthetic replacement for a missing tooth, a Prosthodontist will factor in: your facial form, length and position of your lip, condition of adjacent teeth, overall condition of the mouth and your general health; in addition to the affected area.
Prosthodontists often work very closely with other dental specialists as well as dental laboratory technicians to help restore natural teeth and create natural looking substitutes or prosthetic teeth. » Return to About Us
