Bruxism is the technical term for clenching and grinding of teeth. People who suffer from Bruxism unintentionally bite down too hard at inappropriate times, such as while they are sleeping. Grinding wears down and may fracture teeth, and may lead to gum and jaw problems. Bruxism may be caused by stress, an unconscious attempt to smooth out a poor bite, sleep disorders or teeth that are missing or crooked.
Bite Guards will prevent further damage to teeth and help to restore your bite. A Bite Guard is a small appliance worn in the mouth similar to an Orthodontic retainer or sports mouthguard. They are worn comfortably at night and aim to reduce Muscular activity. Bite Guards prevent the top teeth and bottom teeth from touching during sleep.
Many people are unaware that they have Bruxism. If you wake up with dull headaches, facial pain, tooth ache or a sore jaw, you may be suffering from Bruxism. You may also have teeth that are painful or loose from severe grinding. This can lead to fractures in your teeth.
